Born in India to Trevor Douglas Davies Berrington and Ellen Adeline (Faithful), Caradoc was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire.
His father Trevor was Director General of the India Telegraph Department. His mother must have died before he was killed as his father married again, and was known to have been living with his younger wife and new son in Wales in 1911.
The family came to live in Budleigh Salterton where Trevor Berrington was living at Sherbrook Lodge when he died aged 96 years in 1943. His second wife died at Clinton Terrace in 1962.
Captain Berrington, of the 15th Lancers (Cureton’s Multanis) a cavalry regiment of the British Indian Army, died on 10 March 1916, aged 30, and was buried at La Gorgue Communal Cemetery in northern France.
