The younger daughter Ivy was baptised only a couple of months before his death and is believed to have survived well into the 21st century. The older daughter Iris, died in 1998 in Budleigh Salterton. Ernest’s burial records give an address as ‘Ivybank’ in St David’s Hill, Exeter. Edith died in 1977 in Exeter aged 92. She had been living in Frewins Cottages, Budleigh Salterton, at the time of Ernest's death.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission says Leading Boatman Waller served on HMS President. Ernest was awarded the Star, the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
